files for use in your own intros/demos etc. Assembler source code is also
included.
MUS.3151 NT_COMP by Klaus Pedersen - Noisetracker compiler for ST, STE &
TT. Improves quality of sound by compiling modules. The increased speed
means that higher playback frequencies are possible. XBIOS MUSIC
CONSTRUCTION KIT from David O'Connell - Step time three channel song and
voice editor. Some similarities to Activision's Music Studio with the
addition of GFA Basic routines to load songs into your own programs. Shows
all 3 tracks on screen in hi res, one track only in medium res. CRACKIN
MUSIC 1 - Loads in a PRG file and searches for chip music data. If any is
found it can be saved to disk. I'm not sure what format the file is saved
in. You probably need to INCBIN it into Devpac and call it from there. Take
a note of the names of the PRG files before you start as you don't get a
file selector. CONVERT - Convert .MOD and .SNG files from earlier versions
of TCB Tracker to work with the version given away with Atari ST User.
MODPLAY - Module player program for the STE. MOZART - The Dice Waltz. Write
minuets in the style of Mozart by the computer throw of a dice. Based on a

included on disk). SOUNDACC - Sound player by Daniel Glazman. An ACC which
plays digitized samples from the Desktop. Unfortunately no files are
included. STOS_MAX - All you need to play Mad Max tunes from STOS Basic.
Consists of a Devpac routine to load the tune into memory and assemble it.
You then use the STOS Basic routine provided to load in the file you have
just created and play the tune. An example tune is provided for you to play
around with. THE_LIK.SRC - A Devpac routine for loading and playing music
files created by THE LIK (whoever they are!). A number of example tunes are
included on disk. MUG.SRC - Source code in Devpac and GFA Basic (v3 upwards)
which allow you to play David Whittaker music in your programs. TLC_PLAY - A
nice easy to use GEM based program which allows you to load and play
digitised sound samples.
MUS.3198 SOUNDMACHINE ST by Tommy Software - Originally a commercial
product and now released as Shareware, this is an excellent music
composition package. It allows the soundchip and/or sampled sound to be
used. Your notes are placed directly onto the stave so you will need to be
able to read music to use this program. Numerous samples are provided on
disk for use in your own compositions and your musical notation can be
printed out. A number of associated programs are also on disk. Soundmachine
ST is fully controlled by the mouse and therefore easy to use. Thanks to Bob
Pond for the English help, files which should be sufficient to get you
started. However, you will need to register with the author for the full
documentation (which is available in English).
MUS.3200C A LITTLE MUSIC DEMO by Wheee The Fibble - This music player
recognises 11 music drivers including Rob Hubbard, Mad Max, Lap, David
Whittaker etc; and automatically depacks music files compressed with ICE,
FIRE, Automation v5 and Atomik 3.5 packers. On disk there are 179 pieces of
music from various musicians, all of which can be depacked and resaved. If
you load an unrecognised music file, you can try playing it with any of the
11 supported drivers. This allows almost any piece of music to be replayed
as most musicians stick to these commonly used formats.
MUS.3255 AVR by Chris Flint - Converts AVR (Audio Visual Research) samples
between 8 bit and 16 bit formats and mono and stereo. For example, Pro 12
and Pro 16 samples can be converted for use in Stereo Replay or vice versa.
EDSYNTH - A three voice (plus noise) music synthesiser which creates music
which runs under interupt. The command language gives full control over the
ST sound chip. By clever programming, the 3 voices can be made to sound like
9! Includes routines to compile tunes for use in your own programs. Also
routines for playing tunes from STOS. PROTRACKER V1.1B REPLAY by Griff of
Electronic Images - A player program for soundtracker files. Features 7
output options including STE stereo. Compatible with Noisetracker 1.0 - 2.0
and Protracker. 17 kHz output. MODULPLAYER ST/STE V1.4C - Another MOD
player. This one's from Germany with German documentation. Good quality
output via monitor. Works in low or high res but not medium. SCONVERT -
Another sample converter from Chris Flint. A sample in ST Replay, Replay
Pro, Mastersound or STOS Maestro format can be selected and resaved in any
format and at any frequency. Samples may also be expanded or compressed.
PAULA v2.6 - An Amiga MOD player for the STE, TT and Falcon. It emulates the
Paula (Amiga) custom chip at up to 50 kHz on a TT or Falcon. It is
compatible with all types of MOD file, has three frequency settings, allows
pitch and speed to be tuned and is fully programmable. Also on disk is PETRA

MUS.3256 THE MEGATIZER - A Shareware chip music editor and player program.
Includes GFA and ASM sources for playing your compositions in your own
programs, as well as samples, patterns, drums and songs. No docs on disk, so
it requires the full manual for serious use. This is available to registered
users. Similar in feel to the Soundtracker programs.
MUS.3257 MR MUSIC - A sample player with routines to convert song and voice
sets from Quartet. Includes a demo program with sample "tune" and parallax
scrolling. There are docs on the Mr Music file format and how to incorporate
Mr Music files into your own programs. It should be noted that the files on
disk are source files in GFA Basic and assembler only. There is not an
executable player program. SNDSHOW2 - Sound and Vision Slide Show. Shows
pictures on all 3 screen resolutions (Degas format). If a sample with the
same name as the picture is found, it will be played whilst the picture is
on screen. TRIMOD - The Trisound Converter. Converts a Lynx Trisound song
and voice set to a Count Zero compatible music file. SOUND MERLIN by Tommy
Software - Yet another commercial product, re-released as Shareware. Sound
Merlin is sound sampling software which can be used with most (if not all)
sound sampler cartridges on the market. It gives the user greater control
over the sampling than many of its competitors. The program is in English
but the docs are German. Would anyone like to translate?
MUS.3350C MAKIN' SWEET MUSIC Vol 1 by MUG UK - A disk full of music composed
using Blipp Blopper v0.79 (not included). Blipblop files must first be
converted using HYBRID.PRG and the resulting .MUS files loaded via
appropriate source code into GFA Basic, STOS or Assembler.

disk. This is not just a player program. It records using a sampling
cartridge (Replay and Daatasound are the only ones tested) from 4.9 kHz to
30.72 kHz. Functions are those usually seen in commercial programs, eg;
fade, loop, echo and many more. It uses a smart custom GUI with a unique
help feature. Loads SPL, SAM and AVR files. Highly recommended. The TCB
Tracker player is colour only, the others run in colour or mono.
MUS.3546C JUKEBOX - When run as an accessory, it emulates the Amiga's
hardware in order to play Noisetracker MODS and SEGM files in the
background. STE and TT only. M_STUDIO - 4 Music Studio file players:- MS
PLAY - A simple player program by John Brochu. MIDI output only. MS PLAYER

well as monitor and STE stereo. Will depack MODs packed with various
versions of Ice, Atomix, Automation, Jam, & Fire.
MUS.3547 DIGISTUF - Four programs by David Baggett which use samples in
different ways:- BEEP - Replaces the system bell with a sample. DIGITAL
KEYCLICK - Does the same for the keyboard (you can make your ST sound like a
manual typewriter, for instance). DIGIVEC - Installs digitised sound when
various system events occur (ideal for programmers). QD PLAY - Plays a
sample on boot up. Several samples are included and the CLICK.INF file is
easily edited to route sound through other devices eg; ST Replay. MPLAYER -

fully functional 4 channel sample synthesiser. Originally intended as a
commercial package, the authors have decided to release it as Shareware. It
is fully compatible with Protracker 2 on the Amiga, but has many more
features. It even handles compressed MOD files and lets you compress your
own. From the authors of Esion Tracker on MUS.162 and ProTracker 1.3 on
DEM.3316. Without a doubt, this is the best MOD file editor available at any
price. There are 3 versions on disk, for ST, STE, and TT. Register with the
author and make sure you get the most out of this incredible piece of
software. The registered version allows up to 32 MODs to be edited at once,
has a built in sampler, polyphonic Midi support and much more! BACKTRACK -

the background on the ST, STE, TT and Falcon. It also runs as an application
under MultiTos. DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSOR by K Lord - Creates filters for use
with audio samples, eg; to cut out low frequency rumble or high frequency
hiss. With PLAY.PRG in the same folder, samples may be loaded, filtered and
replayed via Hippo or Replay hardware or through the monitor. HARD DRIVE
RECORDING KIT by Dan Hollis - Lets you use your sampling cartridge and hard
drive for recording (actually floppies work as well), i.e. sample length is
limited by disk space rather than RAM. Sampling frequency is fixed at 20 kHz
and output to Replay 4 only. I cannot say whether it will work on other
Replay samplers, but it certainly does NOT work with Replay 16. LONGPLAY by
Michael Hodgkinson - An STE sample player which reads continuously from
disk. As it's playing one sample, it loads the next. This allows lengthy
samples to be played back on small memory machines. An editing program
allows you to accurately splice the samples together. Longplay uses AVR
format samples and runs at 6.25 Khz. STE only, Needs 1 Meg. PT PLAYER by
Petri Kuittinen - Plays Noisetracker and Protracker MODs on all ST's in any
resolutions. Although not tested on TT and Falcon, it should work on these
computers too. QD PLAY by Dave Baggett - A utility to play 8-bit samples.
Copy the PLAY.PRG to your Auto folder so that samples play samples on boot-
up, via STE, Hippo or Replay. Command lines are easily created using a text
editor. SOUND PLAY - A DMA sample player by Richard Kurz. Plays at various
rates, up to 50 kHz in mono and stereo 8-bit and 16-bit stereo (Falcon).
ULTIMATE TRACKER v2.52 by Equinox & the Black Cats - Plays Soundtracker,
Noisetracker and Protracker 1.2 MODs on STE, TT and Falcon. Runs as a PRG or
ACC and is MultiTos compatible. It offers four frequencies from 6.25 kHz to
50 kHz depending on your machine.
MUS.4246C MAKIN' SWEET MUSIC Vol 3 from MUG UK - Over 60 pieces of chip
music for use with Megatizer on MUS.3256. Also supplied are player routines
for Devpac, STOS Basic and GFA Basic v3 (or later) so that you can use the
music in your own programs.
MUS.4375C NATION-X CHIP MUSIC DISK 1 - A collection of around 150 tunes
from ST games and demos. Also on disk is RAZREZ - aka Whee the Fibble's
Music Player v 3.1. This player supports 13 different types of chip music
file eg; Big Alec, Count Zero, Mad Max, Trimod and many more.
MUS.4376 FANTASY MUSIC PLAYER from Morgan Roussel - Multi music file player
which is similar to RAZREZ (on MUS.4375) but less stable. GBELL - Loads and
plays a sample when a system call (eg; open window, drag etc) is executed.
Runs on the STE, TT or Falcon only. THE MIX MACHINE by Dynamite Software -
AMOD player with the facility to accept input direct from a sampler at
various rates up to CD quality. MIDI support via on-screen 5-octave
keyboard. Looks like a powerful program which would be even better had the
author thought to include a DOC file! WAVEPLAYER by B Grier - Allows you to
play WAV files from the PC on an STE, TT or Falcon. Includes C source.
MODEST V1.1 by Great Dane Software - This program is intended to be used as
a database for keeping track(?) of all those MOD files. It reads in a
directory of MODs and creates a listing of their filenames, the songs
contained within each MOD, the composer's name and the file size. If it
stopped there it would be little more than a database come disk cataloguing
program. Where Modest really scores is that it can analyse all new MODs
against the details already on file and help eliminate duplicates which
would otherwise be missed because the filenames have been changed. You can
analyse and store data on all the common MOD variations. Several MOD types
can also be played by Modest in the full version. This Shareware demo is
fully functional except that it does not play MODs, nor does it allow you to
output your data to disk or printer. Register for the full version.
MUS.4382 THE BACKGROUND MUSIC UTILITY by Richard Karsmakers - An accessory
which plays music while you work, regardless of whatever else you're doing
on the computer. It has 58 tunes built in. These range from classical to The
Muppets with The Beatles thrown in too! CHORD - A demo version of the Chord
Dictionary by John Woods. The demo is restricted to major, minor and 7th
chords in 12 keys. The full version has 1200 chords, which are listed in
the demo but not selectable. OCTALYSER V0.96 by New Trend - An eight channel
soundtracker program. The sampler/sample editor, MIDI options and ability to
load sound samples and a few other bits and pieces will be included in the
registered version. Octalyser supports Noisetracker 15 sample and 30 sample
formats using 4 channels, an expanded Noisetracker format which uses 8
channels, Startrekker Amiga 31 sample formats with 4 or 8 channels,
Octalyser Amiga 31 sample 4, 6 or 8 channel formats as well as its own! It
also allows the use of UMP modules which, when applied to standard MOD
files, allows you to hear them at 50khz in 16-bit stereo. This is the only
tracker program which allows you to replay sounds which were sampled at
50khz (the others are limited to about 30khz). Octalyser has an extensive
manual on disk as well as on-line help from within the program. As Octalyser
is no longer being developed, the authors are allowing this registered
version to be freely distributed. STE ONLY.
MUS.4531 FINAL SCORE from Mainstream Music - A fully functioning score-
writing program. Printout is graphic based, giving excellent results.
Unfortunately only Epson 9-pin printers are supported. Draws lines, slurs,
hairpins, beams, boxes and has the full complement of notes and symbols,
including guitar chords. Add text using one of 4 fonts supplied. Note this
is a DTP-type program for outputting music scores to printer, not MIDI. Mono
Only. REAL SOUND - A MOD file player which runs as an ACC and plays the
music in the background if running as an ACC or under Multi-TOS. STE ONLY.
GUZ'S AMAZING SOUNDTRACKER TUTORIAL - A tutorial file on how Soundtracker
programs work. It has a number of example MOD files included to illustrate
the points it covers. Obviously you will need a Soundtracker program in
order to make use of the tutorial. We recommend Protracker v2.1 on MUS.3732.
MUS.4693 QPLAY v3 by Dyad Software - A Quartet song player with output via
monitor or an ST Replay cartridge. Maximum output frequency is 22 kHz.
Undocumented feature: pressing "1" on the numeric key pad followed by the
Space bar gives very colourful animated display! Note this is a demo program
and not all features are implemented. There are also one or two bugs,
especially in the file selector. Does NOT work if you have a Midi keyboard
attached. MADMAX - A sound chip music player for playing tunes in Mad Max
format. It also includes over 90 pieces of music for you to listen to.
MUS.4931C MUSIC OF THE SHAPE SHIFTERS VOL 1 - Twenty superb tunes working
under interrupt, many with full source code and note data. Also included
are several QUARTET tunes (these require the Quartet program) and four
music demos. This disk was previously part of the BUDGIE UK range.
MUS.4933C MUSIC OF THE SHAPESHIFTERS VOL 2 - More original tunes from
Goth. Sixteen interrupt driven tunes callable from Basic or Assembler.
More source code files to examine and assemble (Devpac2 needed). Finally,
two new demos, Gooddemo and Goth-2, with another 14 tunes. This disk was
previously part of the BUDGIE UK range.
MUS.4937C MUSIC OF THE SHAPESHIFTERS VOL 3 - More than 60 tunes available
from the click of the mouse. A superb collection from the most original
music coders on the ST. Many tunes are repeated in PRG format, ready to go
into your games. Others have full assembler source code. Great value. This
disk was previously part of the BUDGIE UK range.
MUS.4942C MUZEXX MAKER by Malcolm Sparks - Allows music to be generated
easily from the ST's soundchip. The music generated is played under
interrupt. Examples and a sample source code listing are provided on disk.
The resulting data can be played using the program provided or used in your
own programs. MUSIC CASSETTE PRINTER by Paul Dowers - Create your own
personalised labels for your music cassettes. As well as designing the
layout, you can import graphics in PI2 format. Also on disk is an image
grabber program which allows you to grab a section of a Degas screen for use
in the program. For Epson and compatible printers. Three sets of clipart
type graphics and fonts are provided on disk. These programs were formerly
part of the BUDGIE UK range.
MUS.5256 OPTRONIX MUSAK PLAYER v2 - Chip music, Quartet & Tracker file
player from Optronix. Allows chip music (searches for several formats
including Mad Max, Count Zero, Trimod & others) to be ripped from other
programs. Quartet files may be output via monitor, DMA, or Replay & Playback
cartridges. Disk also includes a folder with two self-extracting archives
(copy them to a blank disk before extracting) containing 100's of chip music
files for use with Musak Player.
MUS.5257 SONGZ V1.89 by Antoine Martin - A multi-media database program. It
is essentially a database designed to help you keep track of your tapes,
records and CDs. Album name, song titles, artist's name, music type, year of
release etc are all stored and are quickly and easily searched through. In
addition, music and graphics can be linked to individual entries, making
this a truly multi-media experience. The only thing is, you'll need a hard
drive if you want to do that! Supported graphic formats include Art
Director, Degas, IMG, NEO, Doodle, Prism Paint, TIFF and STAD. Music file
support includes MID, MOD and AVR. Songz is very neatly laid out in a slick
modern GEM interface and it takes no time at all to get the hang of things.
Menus can be configured for English, French or German. This unregistered
version includes several example databases but limits the number of new
sheets to 40 (1600 in the full version) and picture viewing is disabled.
Registration removes these restrictions.
MUS.5304 FIVE TO FIVE v2.13 - Analyses and converts various sample formats
(AIFF, AIFF-CUBASE, AVR, DVSM, FORTUNE, HSN, SND, WAVE, RAW) between
different computer systems (ST, Falcon, Sun, NeXT, Mac, PC). Runs on any
Atari. AUDIODEV by Eric Smith - A device driver for MiNT to drive the STE's
DMA; plays at 12.5 khz only. Source code included. SOUND PLAYER by Richard
Kurz - An easy to use sample player which handles 8 and 16 bit mono and
stereo via monitor or DMA hardware. Just load and play! SWAV V0.2 by
Christophe Bartholme - Plays 8-bit or 16-bit WAV samples up to to 50khz via
the DMA. It can be installed as an application so that WAV files can be
double-clicked, or you can run it as a TTP or from a CLI giving it various
parameters. Probably even more useful is its ability to be executed from an
Auto folder as it can randomly select a WAV file which will be played at
bootup. ANOTHER CD-PLAYER (ACDP) V1.01 by Christian Mittendorf - Audio CD
driver for use with MetaDOS. It has been designed for use on the Falcon with
FALCON.BOS but should also run on the ST. ACDP has many functions which
include playing the audio tracks, reading the actual table of contents of
the CD, stopping the song, changing to the next song and more. Runs as a PRG
or ACC. THE GUITAR REFERENCE by Alan Richardson - Displays a user-definable
guitar fretboard on screen to which different scales and tunings can be
displayed. Includes a tuner which plays over MIDI or sound chip. THE MUSIC
PLAYER V1.0 by Christian Dahl - Yet another MOD file player but this one
actually has some extras to offer. As well as the usual 4 track MODs TMP
also handles 6 track and 8 track variations. It plays the MODs at 50 Khz,
supports the VA-START protocol and can be run from a CLI. Up to 20 MODs can
be loaded at once and TMP is fully multi-tasking friendly. Runs as a PRG or
ACC. From the author of Octalyser. MUSEX1 by Seymour Shlien - A program for
practising and learning musical notation by selecting the correct note on
the on-screen keyboard in response to a note appearing randomly on the
stave. Offers Test, Lesson and Unstructured modes. Response times given at
the end of the lesson. Colour ONLY. MUSEX2 by Seymour Shlien - Ear training
excercises - no, not wiggling them in time to music but developing the
ability to identify musical intervals! Several levels of difficulty. Simple
point and click interface. PLAY_AVR by Timothy Raine - A sample player which
automatically converts 16 bit to 8 bit samples (why you should want to do
this I don't know), resamples to nearest internal playback frequency and
signs an unsigned sample. SP_COPY - A copy utility specifically for the
Peavey SP sample player. It lets you copy selected SP-banks or the entire
medium (hard drive, CD-ROM etc). We don't have one of these machines so
you're on your own here! TIME IS MONEY by Jerome Cabanis - Performs all the
necessary conversion calculations between tempo and note values expressed in
terms of hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds. Everything can be
converted and expressed in terms of any other supported unit of measurement.
A handy ACC to have loaded when composing.
MUS.5643 AUDIOCREATE V3.01 by Simon Dehaese - Good sampling software for STE
(8 bit), TT and Falcon (16 bit) with direct-to disk recording and playback
capabilities. Plenty of facilities for manipulating samples. Output via MIDI
(preferable) or monitor. Falcon owners can record via the microphone input
or sampling hardware (eg Clarity) whilst ST'ers will need Replay or similar.
CD-RECORDER by Dirk Haun - Reads audio CD data and saves samples in AVR or
WAV format at up to 44.1 kHz. Requires MetaDos and an audio CD driver (such
as FALCON.BOS - even on an ST!). GUITAR SCALES by Stefan Bock - Two GIFs,
representing guitar scales (displays full screen, scrollable major and minor
scales in all keys as a guitar fretboard) along with the necessary software
to allow you to view them from within your sequencer. Designed for use with
C-LAB's Creator but would work equally well within ANY sequencer. JINGLE
PLAYER by A Binner and H Schönfield - A sample player for DVR format
samples. Converts AVR to this format. Includes a drag-and-drop playlist.
ROLAND MC202 SAMPLER PACK from Sorceror Sound Productions - Four 16-bit
stereo samples in AVR format. Issued as an 'advert' for SSD's range of
professional sound samples. OSZI - Displays samples graphically in the form
of an oscilloscope. Can be run from the desktop or as a desk accessory.
MUS.5692C STOS FRIEND CHIP MUSIC DISK by Take-5-Team - A player program by
German STOS enthusiasts which plays Mad Max tunes and displays a red, white
and blue pulsating flag as the music plays. Full STOS source on disk as well
as 99 Mad Max tunes to listen to. Did he really write that many?
Probably the most comprehensive compilation of the maestro's work.
MUS.5875 CPU_MOD by Patrick Ruiz- A MOD Player for the STE and Falcon.
Playback frequency up to 50 KHz, mono/stereo, tape deck controls, different
routines for assembler, C, Omnikron Basic and STOS. Includes a cut down
version for the 520 STE. PLAYSID030 V2.00 by Abyss & Tao of Cream - A
Commodore C64 SID chip emulator for playing chip music from those 8-bit days
when Rob Hubbard, David Whittaker et al ruled the music scene. Includes 43
music files including the likes of Dragon's Lair II and Commando. DIGIEDIT
by Edmund E Aycock - A sample file player/editor and converter. Loads
DigiSound (SND) or Raw data files and converts between them. SOUNDINIT v1.0
by Richard Kurz - Initialises the sound system of the STE/TT & Falcon.
Program can be renamed according to the volume required and whether to turn
the loudspeaker on or off, and installed in the Auto folder.
MUS.5971 NAUDIO - A demo of the Naudio sample replay library. Includes
NATRACK, a MOD Tracker which runs on all Ataris, and NQuiz, a quiz game in
which you listen to a sample (mostly Heavy Metal extracts) and answer a
question. Facility to make your own quiz from your own samples. STEqualiser
by Thomas Sahlin - An ACC for the STE to allow adjustment of bass, treble
and volume output levels.
MUS.5988 & MUS.5989 SYSTEM AUDIO MANAGER (SAM) V1.3 - Originally bundled
free with the Falcon, JTS Atari have now given permission for SAM to be
distributed freely. Despite its Falcon roots, SAM runs on any Atari computer
with DMA sound (STE/TT/Falcon). SAM allows you to attach sampled sounds to
system events eg; an explosion to bombs, Big Ben chiming for the system bell
sound and so on. Alerts, file selectors, closing windows, indeed any GEM
event can have a sample assigned to it. In addition, you can assign
different samples to the keys on the keyboard. Press Help and it says
'Help', press Undo and it says 'Undo' etc. Adding samples to every key goes
a bit over the top and can be off-putting, especially if you're typing! SAM
accepts sound samples in AVR or WAV formats, so you can use any the masses
of PD samples available. Create your sounds using any of the available
sampling cartridges for the ST. If they do not save in AVR format, use Five
To Five on MUS.5304 to convert them. SAM's built-in sample editor is simple
to use and more than adequate for tidying up your samples. SAM was designed
in such a way that programmers could make their programs SAM aware. When
running such programs you can assign samples to various events handled by
that application. To be honest the possibilities were endless, the problem
was that nobody ever supported SAM in their programs. The reason appears to
be due to a bug in SAM which meant that the configuration files were not
read correctly. This version has been patched by Kosmic Phish Productions to
fix the bug (the last official version was 1.2). SAM is very well documented
(on disk) and includes a full tutorial. SAMPLES - A collection of 40 sound
samples to get you started with SAM. KP SACK V1.0 - An easy to use editor
for creating SAA files. These are configuration files created by programmers
of SAM aware application. They are read by SAM to determine which samples to
assign to which events. KP SACK allows you to create SAA files easily. It
also extends the Applications Global function in SAM. This function lets you
set up common events for all SAM aware applications rather than (or in
addition to) program specific ones. The original set of Applications Global
functions have been further extended by Kosmic Phish to include 16 new
Application Globals which include support for some of the more modern GEM
features such as iconification and tile/stack windows. KP SACK is an
excellent tool for programmers. Needs 1 Mb. STE ONLY.
MUS.6125 NEWTRACK by Simon Volant - A MOD player which includes an Amiga MOD
converter. Plays back at 5khz to 50 khz. Can be installed as an application,
so you just need to double-click MODs to play them. Well documented...in
French! NED PLAYER v3.1 - Simple sample player for STE/TT/Falcon. Plays
unpacked and 8-bit mono files only, from 6 to 25khz. Handles SAM, DVSM, AU,
SND & WAV formats. When used with CAB and BACKPLAY, NED Player lets you
listen to all those sound samples embedded in Web pages. MOD REPAIR by
Daniel Fischer - Tests the structure of a MOD and then attempts to correct
any errors. MR can also play corrected modules. SIRIUS PLAYER v1.4 - A MOD
player which displays wave forms graphically (as you listen to them) in the
form of an oscilloscope. It handles 4 or 8 channel MODs, playing at 25Mhz on
an STE or 50 Mhz on a Falcon. Octalyser compatible with lots of features.
Can be run from the Desktop or as an ACC. SOUND CHIP SYNTH v1.01 by
Electronic Cow - Another classy offering, this one controls the ST's
internal sound chip. Full control over envelope generators, wave
shape/period and all the other parameters that make up the Yamaha YM-2419.
Create and save patches for later use. Some limited MIDI control.
MUS.6307C SIDSOUND DESIGNER V3.5 by Animal Mine - Create your own music with
this Soundtracker type program. It lets you import samples in SPL or AVR
format and create your songs in a similar manner to Soundtracker programs.
In fact there's even a conversion program to convert MOD files into SIDSOUND
format. The resultant music is chip rather than sample based. It's difficult
to tell if it lets you compose SID chip music as on the Commodore 64 or if
the name is purely coincidental. There are docs but they say very little,
though the program will be easy to use if you have previously composed music
using Soundtracker programs. Lots of sound samples and example songs are
included on disk.
